In the towns along its banks, Lake Garda embraces a great deal of history and culture, as well as deep traditions belonging to the wine-and-food sector: The optimum Garda cuisine is accompanied by wines and oils of precious characteristics.

Especially in Bardolino, municipality on the east bank of the lake, it is possible to visit one special museum: theMuseum of Olive Oil.

The museum was created thanks to the interest and the work of the Turri family, owners of an oil mill in Cisano di Bardolino, who from the end of the thirties have developed a passion for the culture of the olive oil, cultivating this passion while respecting an ancient tradition and aiming at being specialists in the trade.

The oil mill of the Turri family is distinguished for the quality pursued and obtained during production, in the manufacturing and marketing of a product that has received numerous important recognitions.

In the eighties production and distribution was modernized; this initially occurred through direct sales, and in modern times the oil mill also sells its own PDO productsvia the Web.

In this period the oil mill was transformed into a Museum of Olive Oil, the first in Italy, whose strength is to show the territory’s roots and its projection for the future.

Every year thousands of people visit this museum, which is at the centre of media attention, as evidenced by the articles and the television services released about it.

Inside the museum there is a path which aims to convey the particularly important aspects of the sector, with didactic panels and a video that provides information about the cultivation and manufacturing phases of the oil.

It is also possible to see an extraordinary exhibition on the manufacturing tools, furnishings of different periods and machines that have influenced and characterized the history of olive oil manufacturing.
